Background: Recently, after putting aside reserves for emergencies, I donated the equivalent of about three weeks of my pension to a family in need. I use the criterion, “Who needs this more than I do?”
Entry: Last night when I lay down in bed and relaxed prior to sleeping I neopted that as a result of my donation I felt neither happy nor unhappy and that I could, at will, switch my mind – my moul – to negative or positive or detachment. This neoption, though unsurprising was enlightening and clearly illustrates non-attachment to a deed and the resulting balance and harmony.
I was aware that to switch to the negative all I had to do was ment about one or more of the “What if?” questions, that to switch to the positive all I had to do was to ment about the act and its results and, the third option was to remain non-attached and in that unique state of being stemming from the simple fact that something needed doing and was done.
Note: Dear Reader, you can do this too!
Dear Ian,
“Who needs this more than I do?” is an open question.
I have asked myself the same question when I am happy. I have asked the same question when I am sad.
To the first, I have had mixed responses. When I share my joy, an unhappy person tries to share his / her suffering at the same time – a suffering that I don’t want to know about. I just want to share my joy.
To the second, there are consistent responses. When I share my pain, both happy and unhappy people want to express understanding. I don’t want understanding. I know what it is. I want to get rid of it with an anti-dote!
So, I have now reached a state on this – an answer. “Who needs this more than I?” No one. Neither do I.
Anything that is needed more or less is a differentiator. I share an undifferentiated universe – where identities are nice to have, not necessary.

“What if” is often used for assessing a risk. Anyone who needs my money or my means of living is seeking relief. I have something more precious to offer – tranquility. I am searching for a customer for tranquility.
It’s a slow moving product. But has a timeless shelf life. I am not in a hurry!
🙂 Thank you!
Dear Reader,
In the final analysis (or ‘The bottom line is’) it is the “thought” that counts – one’s state of mind – one’s mentality – one’s state of being.
